Clay Pigeon Shooting is generally a sport in which flying targets or clay Pigeons and clay targets are shot using a short gun. This type of sport was common in past when real birds were made targets, which was later stopped. The gun used in clay pigeon shooting is a barrel gun with length of 26-32 inches, with single or two shot semi automatic guns are more over used. The cartrages used should be compatible with the guns used and size should not exceed above 2.6mm. The targets are likely an inverted saucer which is made from mixture of pitch and chalk made in a way as it breaks on the hit. It’s colour vary from black, white, orange and other colour depending on the light conditions. Traps are used to launch these targets in the air, it can hold up to 600 targets and can launch they to a distance of 100 metre. Some instructions before you pull the trigger:-
- Always wear hearing and eye protection before you start.
- Stand erect while launching for the target.
- Hold the gun using both hands.
- Learn first to swing the gun then mount it.
- Make sure you focus on the target before pressing the trigger.
Protection's to be taken While you do Clay Pigeon Shooting
All clay shooters should wear hearing protection using either earplugs or earmuffs. Because the noise from firing a shotgun (approximately 150 decibels) will lead to permanent hearing damage unless suitable hearing protection is used so its better to wear proper protection before going for clay shooting.
The targets which are used in Clay Shooting resembles like an inverted saucer which is made from mixture of pitch and chalk. These are designed in such a manner that they breaks when being hit by the shot. The targets differ with various discipline, but the standard is 110m target which is used in all the trap and skeet disciplines.
The machine which launches the targets in the Clay Shooting are spring loaded flywheel or rotational device which launches the targets with a distance up to 100 metres. The machine also varies like from very simple, hand cocked, hand loaded and hand released types. There are also highly sophisticated fully automatic variety also which is capable to hold upto 600 tragets with remore control button to release the target. Mainly the manual machine is used to launch the tragets.
